Oh Zippy Zippy Zippy

I finally got a chance to listen to the Christmas Canon song this evening and it is the cheeziest rendition of Pachelbel's Canon in D that I have ever heard. I mean, are you kidding? Adding Christmas words and an electronic guitar does not a good Christmas song make.

awww man! thats too bad. i like it... though i will say, i love Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel... therefore any version of it i like.

i even degraded myself by having absolutely no originality and used it in my wedding ceremony. i have many versions of it on CD and even have a couple of CD's that have nothing but different versions of the canon on it (performed in differnt ways).... hence the TSO version definitely not being the worst version out there, trust me on that one.

that being said....i do agree that the electric guitar version that they do is lame, lame, lame! (the one with the blonde chick singing - ugh!)i like the version that they do with the childrens choir. that is a really great song.

since it is now included on many Christmas song compilation cd's, i am assuming that it is thought of as a pretty decent Christmas song... dont get me wrong, its not on the same level of "oh holy night" or "the first noel"... or even "blue CHristmas" by the king.... but its decent none-the-less.

but to be honest, that is the only thing i like about TSO, so i would never go see them in concert... the rock stuff is a bit cheezy. i remember in a past post of yours that you mentioned a few people from your work were going to go see them in concert... what were their thoughts?

Yes yes yes we all love Pachelbel, but that makes it even worse. How can you listen to some cheezy band butcher a wonderful tune?
