My friend Dave told me at a bar the other day that Dust in the Wind by Kansas was one of the 100 best songs ever written. So in an act of defiance, I am on a quest to come up with my own list, purposely leaving that overly quoted annoying ballad off. My list is an evolving one. I have decided that it's not in any sort of order... Just the top 100.. So far I have about 18 songs.. and I will reveal the list when it's done. I wanted to actually put the evolving list on here, but I think once you post you cant change a message... well, you probably can, but as a posting novice, I cant be bothered to figure out how. So be patient, my little bears... One day soon, you will see my masterpiece.
[I will take all song opinions under advisement, except for a vote of Shiny Happy People or Stairway to Heaven.]

oooo, best ever songs eh?
will get thinking cap on but a few to get the ball rolling are:
Unfinished sympathy - Massive Attack
All I want is you - U2
Name of the Game - Abba
La Cienaga Just Smiled - Ryan Adams
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
.....hmmm
Wow, this is an intensely difficult thing you have undertaken Shelly. I mean, what constitues the best songs of all time? Are they the best due to longevity? Are they the best due to the high quality of music they represent? Are they the best due to wide appeal? I am sure once your list is complete Jer will disagree with 98% of them!
If Karma Chameleon isn't on there, I'm never going to visit this blog again!
Nice blog.
OK, after further review I'll officially retract the Dust in the Wind comment, cheesy violin solo and all.!
With that, I'll submit my top-10, in no particular order -
Nirvana: D-7
Nirvana: Return of the Rat
Springsteen: Jungleland
Springsteen: New York City Seranade
The Clash: London Calling
Alice in Chains: Rooster
Iggy Pop: Lust for Life
REM: Fall on Me
U2: Bullet the Blue Sky
Ray Charles: Georgia on My Mind.
Dave Orth: Death to Liberals
OK, not exactly a top-10 greatest of all time list but more like a snap shot of what Dave is listening to this week.
Enjoy wasting about 50 hours coming up with the top-100.
All I am going to say is that one of these classics must be on your list - if not for the only reason to make me happy - you know I love the cheez:) And before all of you tell me I am crazy, I have no taste in music, etc....I know you know the words to at least 1/2 of the songs on this list - if not, 99%! HE HE!!!
Bust A Move - Young MC
Joy and Pain - Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock
Baby Got Back - Sir Mixalot
Mo' Money, Mo' Problems - Biggie Smalls feat. Puff Daddy
Wild Thing - Tone Loc
Rump Shaker - Wrexx N Effect
Push It - Salt and Peppa
Whoomp! There it is - Tag Team
Boombastic - Shaggy
Jump Around - House of Pain
Now That We Found Love - Heavy D. & The Boyz
Good Vibrations - Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch
Oy - I just typed it all in and lost it - fuggadabout this blogging crap! It was reaaaaaally good though...
whoever that "dave" fella is, his list is an absolute travesty. what a poser.
please... he must be one of those losers that picks obscure songs to show what a real fan of the artist he is.... gimme a break.
and i am sorry, any top ten list that has one nirvana song in it, let alone 2 shouldnt be worth considering anyways. and what is with him choosing 2 springsteen songs and one of them is NOT thunder road?!?!?! ridiculous!
i rebuke dave's list!
so now my comments get deleted?
I take it you must agree with dave's (or orthy's?) list then?
